How to take screenshots. You can’t take a screenshot on your X, 11 or 12-series iPhone by pressing the Home and power buttons at the same time, because
you’ve not got a Home button
.
On iOS 12 or older, go to
Settings > General > Accessibility
. With AssistiveTouch on, a gray dot appears onscreen; tap this grey dot to access the Home button.
The Home Touch Buttons are displayed
in a bar at the bottom of all of the screens
to provide easy navigation within the device software. Back Button: Tap to back up one step at a time and close on-screen items such as pop-up messages, the on-screen keyboard, etc.
As well as killing off the headphone jack,
Apple has dropped the mechanical home button from the new iPhone 7
, replacing it with a static version that’s force sensitive. Instead of a button that physically moves, the new home button will use Apple’s “taptic engine” to click back at users.
The sleep/wake button is the one also commonly known as the power button. The home button is the round one you see at the bottom of the screen area on the front of the device.
As you may have noticed,
your iPhone 12 has no home button
. Where the Home button used to be, you now have an extra half-inch or so of glorious OLED display! If you’re coming from an iPhone X, XS, or 11, it will be totally familiar, of course.
