The 2,369 km long road is the longest National Highway of India and one of the major road network between south and north India. As per the recent rationalization of highway numbers this highway is proposed to be renamed as NH 44, but it is still named as NH 7 as per official government records.

National Highway 7 (NH 7) is a highway connecting Fazilka (Punjab) to Mana (Uttarakhand) in India. It passes through the Indian states of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand.
Previously known as National Highway 7, National Highway 44 (NH 44) is the longest-running National Highway in India. It is 3,745 km long and covers the North-South Corridor of NHDP.
NH 7 – Fazilka to Mana
It passes through the Indian states of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. The National Highway 7 connects Hindu pilgrim centres of Rishikesh, Devprayag, Rudraprayag, Karnaprayag, Chamoli, Joshimath and Badrinath with Dehradun and Chandigarh .
