Is Camp America worth doing?
Amazing experience
Yes you don’t get paid much, yes you pay more to go than you get paid there but
it’s worth it
. Working with so many different kids from all sorts of life is amazing. There’s not much time off as well but it’s still worth it.
What dates are Camp America 2022?
For summer 2022 these dates are
August 26th to Sept 4th
. Unless a flight date is requested before April 1st we may be unable to provide flights during the specified dates.
How much do you get paid at Camp America?
As a first year applicant you can expect to earn
between $800-$1350
from your placement. Due to recent changes to the tax laws in the U.S. all J1 participants will now have taxes deducted from their pocket money and be required to complete a US Tax Return form after their return to their home county.
What age can I do camp America?
It is a visa regulation that participants must be 18 when they fly to the United States, therefore Camp America does not accept applications from people who are not 18 by 1st of June.
You can start your application before you turn 18 as long as your birthday is within the full application season and before 1st June

Do you get days off at camp America?
If you are at a camp where the campers stay overnight,
you will normally be given a period off during the day to have some time to relax
. Obviously there always needs to be staff working, so you’ll work on a rota basis with the other Counsellors. You’ll also have certain evenings off and normally 1 full day off a week.
What skills do I need for camp America?
Skills such as; archery, rock climbing, kayaking, gymnastics, ropes, lifeguarding, horseback riding, motorboat driving, magic, piano, riflery, sailing, swim teacher, tennis, trapeze, wakeboarding, waterskiing and windsurfing are always in high demand with camps.

Can I do camp America if I’m not a student?
Do I have to be a student to apply?
No, you don’t have to be a student to be a camp counselor
. However if you would like to work in a support staff role such as working in the camp office, kitchen, maintenance or laundry then you must be a student.

One of the best things about doing Camp America is the opportunity to travel! You can explore the local areas to your camp during your time off and
once camp has finished you’re free to go anywhere in the USA

What happens at camp America?
Evening activity can include things like;
camp fires, dances, all-camp swim, pool parties, treasure hunts, theatre performances
plus any creative ideas that the staff have to keep the camp entertained!
Are flights included with Camp America?
Your flights are taken care of by us
, so you don’t have to worry about paying for them or arranging any travel out to camp.
What is a Camp America interview like?
The people interviewing you will have been to work at camp previously and should make the interview
very relaxed and friendly
– it won’t be like going for a formal interview at a bank for example. Usually interviews are face to face but you might be asked to have one over Skype.
