some chainsaws, hedge trimmers, grass trimmers and other tools use engines with 2-MIX technology
– so what's the difference and what does it mean for you when you are using the tools?
What kind of oil do you mix with gas for Weedeater?
The fuel-oil mixture ratio for all Weed Eater products is 40:1. You can obtain this ratio by mixing 3.2 oz. of
two cycle air cooled engine oil
with one gallon of regular gas. Over a period of time oil will separate from gasoline.
Can you use any 2 stroke oil in STIHL?
You'll need STIHL 2-Stroke oil
, an empty and clean fuel can and fresh unleaded fuel. We recommend a 50:1 mix ratio (20mls oil per 1 litre fuel) when using STIHL 2-Stroke oil. If you're using a different brand of 2-Stroke oil, you'll need to mix at 25:1 (40mls oil per 1 litre fuel).

Excess oil
can produce a smoky exhaust, oil leaking out of the muffler, and sometimes loss of power
. While not ideal, these issues can be fixed by simply replacing the fuel in the tank with properly mixed fuel. But running a two-cycle engine with too little oil can actually destroy the unit.
Is Stihl 2 stroke oil ashless?

. Of course you can. However, it is not the right lubricant for a 2 cycle engine. SAE 10W-30 is far too thin to provide protection in a 2 cycle engine, and it contains the wrong additives that can cause ash deposits and plug whiskering.
