It does not use real MBE questions . These questions are invented by Barbri and do not best reflect the questions you will see on the MBE. (Note: barbri recently admitted to offering only 100 released MBE questions. To our knowledge, these questions do not appear in Barbri’s simulated exam.
Kaplan’s curriculum and coursework get the edge over Barbri as a result of some category best practice materials and daily lesson plan. While Barbri’s very cool, AI-driven personal study plan and robust coursework make them a close second, we just found Kaplan to have the better overall curriculum.
Kaplan’s bar review curriculum is undeniably thorough and high-quality . Crafted by their team of licensed attorneys, in-house MBE experts and knowledgeable instructors, the Kaplan study plan will absolutely leave you prepared for the exam if completed.
Re: Does Themis Grade harder than bar examiners? In my experience, yes! I did all of the graded essays, gave them a good amount of effort, and didn’t do great. I think I was typically around 50-60th percentile on my practice test percentiles, except on the MPT practice where I was a bit higher.
Yes, absolutely . In fact, Barbri is set up to be MORE than enough (i.e. more than you should reasonably be able to do – they even TELL you that). They say that if you are doing about 75% of what they assign, you’re doing enough. Towards the end, you figure out your weak spots and focus on those anyway.
Pass rates: Both Themis and Barbri offer strong pass rates, with about 85-90% for first-time test takers. Average pass rates are higher when students have completed more of the program.
The MBE has 25 unscored “test” or experimental questions . These questions are unscored because they are very often difficult or intentionally confusing. The bar is looking to test new ways it can ask questions on future bar exams and uses test-takers as guinea pigs.
UWorld is a strong alternative to AdaptiBar (and BarMax’s MBE Question Bank). You can’t go wrong either way. But if you ask users, they like UWorld’s QBank more.
If you’re looking to practice MBE questions either online or using a mobile app, UWorld is a great option for you . Good luck with your bar prep!
The answer is, as you may have guessed, quite subjective. Many people think that the Barbri MBE questions are longer and harder than the real MBE questions . And still others say that the Barbri MBE questions are easier than the real MBE questions.
The national average on simulated tests right now is normally about 55-56% correct , but if you are in the 45-53% range, you can still make up the points. An 80% first time taker pass rate means you only need a higher score than 20% of people, not 50%. Even if you aren’t above 20%, you can still get there.
The Kaplan USMLE review course costs somewhere between $800 and $4,400 , depending on which step you are studying for and which class format you prefer.
The course lasts 8-10 weeks, and the average student should expect to spend about 40 hours per week studying.
Thus, in order to bridge this gap for students, the Kaplan Bar Academic Team created The Empower Series. This series is the first step a student will take on their bar learning journey . The Empower Series begins with an MCQ Diagnostic followed by a sequence of carefully designed and scaffolded assignments.
We use the aforementioned 75% completion threshold because it is a constant statistical landmark where an overwhelming majority of students pass.
BARBRI Bar Review is an 8-10 week course. The BARBRI Bar Review course is very flexible in terms of allowing you to study when and where you study best over the 8-10 weeks during which the course is assigning work . Whether you’re an early bird or a night owl, BARBRI is ready to go when you are.
As a rough guide, students should do well over 2,000 practice MBE questions (roughly 33 per day for the entirety of their bar review period), as many practice essays as possible (actually written out and compared to a sample answer) and 10 practice performance tests (if applicable).
Most people regard the MBE as the hardest portion of the bar exam. The questions are rarely easy or straightforward. They can be tricky, and sometimes worded in a way that guides you to the wrong answer.
In Uniform Bar Exam (UBE) jurisdictions, the MEE is worth 30% of your score. In non-UBE jurisdictions, the MEE percentage varies but is typically around 30%. Because you need a score total between 65% and 70% to pass the bar, it is possible to fail the MEE and still pass!
Every Themis Bar Review course now includes a FREE UWorld MBE QBank , starting at $2,595.
