Quick-release wheels are pretty much universal on professional racing cars. In emergencies, a driver can detach the wheel and exit the vehicle quickly . They are a nice safety feature on the racetrack, as drivers are often in helmets and race suits, which can make exiting the vehicle difficult.
You do not need a Quick release for this hub to work . With a 6 bolt patter steering wheel that NRG uses you’ll be good to go. The Quick release is just an option and also brings the steering wheel closer to the driver.
